      The National Student Competition focuses on films created by students in Greek national schools: the creators who help flourish film into its next season.

      The awards to be presented are as follows:

      • Award for Best Film
      • People’s Choice Award

      *The Award for Best Film is accompanied by an Є500 reward.

      LIST OF FILMS IN THE NATIONAL STUDENT COMPETITION

      Red Heart, Refugee Cinematography Team of Kinoniko EKAV [Hellenic Social Welfare Assistance Unit]
      When young George sees people from Africa for the first time, he asks his father why they are black. Then his father narrates the story of the creation of the world from a different point of view, building relationships free of prejudice.


      I Hate Cinema, Filippos Pantos
      Antonis, a film school graduate working at a photography studio, gets fired because he spiralled into frustration during a session with a famous influencer. Returning home, he finds out he’s been “canceled” and mocked all over the internet. After an embarrassing encounter with his ex and her new partner, he descends into despair. Rejecting a low-paying job offer at a film review magazine, he resolves to make one last effort to complete his screenplay, while placing himself under extreme circumstances in order to find inspiration.


      The Future of Clay,
      Konstantinos Potamianos
      Zhong Ming, a gifted potter, is in a deep search for his own personal voice. His works are a harmonious blend of Chinese and Western culture with respect to the “Rongchang” ceramic tradition. His work goes far beyond the conventional pottery that the market demands, with awards in international art competitions, and he tries to find a way to balance these two aspects of his art. Eventually, through his work, he is led to find his personal style and gain recognition for it.


      KAPPA, Damianos Chrysochoidis
      In the fake world of stardom, actor ‘KAPPA’ portrays a loving person and father figure when he plays the starring role in a lighthearted TV sit-com and when he presents himself in the media. His fake identity is juxtaposed with his true self: an egomaniac who constantly neglects his family and is possessed by sexual and perverse desires. His fake persona is finally revealed in a nightmarish scenario that brings a domino effect of painful self-realization.


      Assist, Maria Tsioli
      In an empty city, a girl runs towards a football match. Along the way, she encounters her friend in a yellow car, who tries to make her realize the futility of the chase and the solace that can only be found in their shared companionship. The two friends are two separate universes that will only connect when a third friend will appear. The last one will bring them back to reality, uniting their separate worlds.


      Stelianna, Yannis Bletas
      Stelianna a young girl with autism, is a part of a theatrical group of people with disabilities, preparing a performance about herself.


      The Temptation of an Ordinary Thought,
      Thomas Pappas
      A young man lives between his confinement and the anxiety of the upcoming summer.


      Make Love, Not Porn,
      Peter Looles
      Against the stereotypes of the “ideal” woman and the symbols of Pornography, the women in the works of Greek comic artist Stavros Kioutsioukis preserve their personality: they are the girls next door who try and get their rights in Happiness and Love.


      Acheron, Konstantina Papadopoulou
      Married but estranged, Maria and Nikos decide to spend a weekend by the Acheron river. During their stay they are affected by the ancient myth of the river and attempt to find a new balance in their relationship.


      Clementine, George Stagakis
      In a provincial town, 18-year-old Clementine works at the farmer’s market with her oppressive father, until a coach from Athens discovers her talent in football.


      Actually, me, Andreas Papadopoulos
      The portrait of Angelos a.k.a.Elias Sinas, a professional wrestler, who decides to return to the ring after a serious injury.


      Dead Zone, Ioannis Panagis
      The film approaches the everyday life inside the old town of Nicosia, 49 years after the Turkish invasion in 1974. Through the depiction of the impact on the lives of the residents who live amongst ruins along the Green Line, the contrasting aspects of a modern society, which marginalizes its local people since the intercommunal conflict of 1963-64 and the subsequent incursion, are being emphasized.


      A Winter’s Return, Stratis Alvanos
      A return to the village during Christmas becomes an opportunity for a quiet journey of memory and rediscovery in the snowy landscape. Amidst the peaceful images of the village, the warmth of the local café, and the voices of children, this personal documentary explores themes of return, family, and the search for belonging.


      Earthbound, Vaggelis Dikopoulos
      A kid who wants to play with his friends, a woman trying to avoid her husband, and an everyday guy who’s been owed money, all try to find the courage to escape manipulation, while a “giant alien flying object” starts falling from the sky.


      Thanasis, Lydia Kolivinou
      The documentary aspires to work as a window into Thanasis’ life that faces not only internal battles of schizophrenia, but also the external challenges posed by social prejudice.
